Inside A-LIGN’s Partner Ecosystem: Built on Quality and Independence

Trust is the foundation of compliance and cybersecurity assessments. Clients need confidence not only in the audit itself, but in everything around it — the technology they use to manage evidence, the advisors who guide their program, and the vendors who help connect it all together. Partnerships help make that possible, giving clients more flexibility and a smoother path through the compliance process. But partnerships also raise an important question: how do you collaborate without compromising the independence an audit depends on?

At A-LIGN, the answer starts with a simple principle: partnerships extend our reach, but they never compromise the integrity of the assessment.

A-LIGN’s partner ecosystem

A-LIGN maintains a global partner network, including managed service providers (MSPs), GRC platforms, cloud providers, and a network of consultancy firms. This ecosystem is a big part of how we’re able to serve more than 6,400 customers around the world without sacrificing the quality of our work.

Our clients can use the technology and firms of their choice while A-LIGN performs the audit, which streamlines the process instead of forcing teams to adopt new tools or methodologies to get through an assessment. Through A-SCEND integrations, clients get a single source of truth for evidence and communication, no matter which platform they’re already using. And for non-technology partners, our teams have an established track record of working together, which makes onboarding and handoff between organizations far smoother than starting from scratch.

One point is worth emphasizing: A-LIGN does not outsource audits to third parties. The partnership ecosystem supports the client experience, but audits are always performed by A-LIGN employees or contracted auditors and delivered by A-LIGN. While partners may assist customers in navigating the process, our policy prohibits them from performing the work itself.

How partners are vetted

Not every organization that wants to partner with A-LIGN becomes a partner. Prospective partners go through an application and review process, and our service delivery and partnerships teams evaluate fit before any onboarding begins.

We evaluate potential partners against the standards we hold ourselves to: expertise and experience, breadth of services, technology enablement, and track record with shared clients. This isn’t a one-time check. Partner relationships are reviewed regularly for conflicts of interest, technology issues, or inconsistencies in the client experience. We hold our partners to a high bar, and that bar doesn’t relax once a partnership is established.

Our pledge to independence

Independence and impartiality are the foundation our accreditation depends on. Our role as an auditor is governed by accreditation bodies and standard-setting organizations. We take that oversight seriously, and it shapes how we build and manage every partner relationship.

The most essential part is maintaining a clear division between assessments and audits on one side, and consulting or advisory work on the other. Our audit teams are functionally and organizationally separated from any consulting or advisory engagements, consistent with our documented impartiality policy. Blurring that line would undermine the very independence clients rely on us for.

That same discipline extends to how we work with partners. Our partner network helps ensure consistency in outputs, but every audit is inspected the same way, regardless of which partner or technology they use. Because our ecosystem is intentionally broad and gives customers real choice, no single partner relationship drives our business model. That independence isn’t incidental. It’s a structural safeguard that lets us maintain clear lines between our commercial relationships and our audit judgment.

Maintaining high-quality standards

Quality control at A-LIGN relies on four pillars:

People. Dedicated auditors and an experienced audit leadership team oversee quality across every engagement, not just at the point of sign-off.

Process. Rigorous QA review is built into every engagement, supported by a documented, repeatable audit methodology that doesn’t vary based on how a client found us.

Technology. A-SCEND standardizes evidence and communication so quality doesn’t vary by auditor or by partner-referred client.

Accountability mechanisms. Independent appeals and complaints processes exist for every engagement, and they’re handled by a group separate from the audit team itself, ensuring that oversight isn’t self-policed.

A-LIGN vets its partners and safeguards its independence so the quality bar stays constant, regardless of which partner or technology brought the client through our doors.

Partnerships help A-LIGN serve clients more efficiently and give them the flexibility to use the tools they already trust. But that flexibility is never extended at the expense of independence or audit quality. Our ecosystem is built to support clients, not to influence the judgment our accreditation depends on.
