A-LIGN and Fortreum Partner to Take the Evidence Burden Out of FedRAMP 20x
Fortreum’s fixed-scope 20x readiness program feeds evidence directly into A-LIGN’s assessment platform, with the advisor and assessor roles kept separate
TAMPA, Fla. (Oct. 28, 2026) – A-LIGN, a leading provider of cybersecurity compliance services, and Fortreum, a cybersecurity assessment and advisory firm, today announced a technology-focused partnership pairing Fortreum’s 20x Readiness Program with A-LIGN’s independent assessment practice, giving customers a defined path to FedRAMP certification.
The Fortreum 20x Readiness Program replaces time-and-materials advisory work with a fixed-scope engagement. Fortreum sets the authorization boundary before any engineering work begins, stands up its Kovr platform against the customer’s live environment, and runs evidence collection continuously through to the assessment handoff. Customers know the phases, the sequence, and exactly what A-LIGN receives at the end.
Scope is where FedRAMP budgets break. Boundary decisions get revisited late, after engineering has already built against the wrong assumption, and the rework lands on the customer. A-LIGN and Fortreum will help customers navigate the new paths to FedRAMP certification and unlock business opportunities by addressing scope from the beginning, forcing decisions early and holding them.
“Together A-LIGN and Fortreum bring a cohesive FedRAMP 20x experience to customers,” said Nicholas Ludy, Chief Growth Officer at A-LIGN. “With Fortreum as a readiness partner and A-LIGN as an independent assessor, customers unlock a more efficient path to FedRAMP certification, backed by both technology and experienced assessors, giving them increased access to the federal market.”
Kovr, Fortreum’s AI-native compliance platform, connects directly to a customer’s environment and continuously generates evidence instead of asking engineering teams to reconstruct it in documentation. A direct integration with A-SCEND, A-LIGN’s audit management platform, then carries that evidence into assessment, so customers produce it only once. A-LIGN independently tests and validates all evidence it receives, regardless of source.
FedRAMP 20x lets organizations with strong security postures demonstrate that posture without first being buried in paperwork. The Consolidated Rules for 2026 (CR26) took effect July 4 and now govern every new 20x certification application. The window to choose a path is finite. FedRAMP stops accepting new Rev5 certification applications on June 11, 2027, and CR26 practices expire no later than Dec. 31, 2028, when providers must move to a later release.
For customers with a working cloud environment and an engineering team capable of acting, the program can put them in front of A-LIGN’s assessors in less than 90 days. A conventional two-vendor approach adds a second contract, a second security review, and evidence that parties must reconcile before an assessor can use it. Here, procurement for both services closes in a single cycle, while each firm remains contracted separately.
“Readiness is a delivery problem, not an advisory problem,” said Andy Black, Chief Strategy Officer at Fortreum. “We scope it, we run Kovr.AI against the customer’s actual environment, and we hand A-LIGN evidence the system generated rather than evidence a consultant assembled. A-LIGN tests it on its own terms. No one builds the same artifact twice.”
After certification, Fortreum can continue to provide continuous monitoring and vulnerability response, and A-LIGN can continue to serve as the customer’s independent assessor for annual and significant change assessments.
