ABOUT THE ROLE
The User Experience Designer will play a key role on the A-SCEND product team by taking a user-centered, design-thinking approach to produce a SaaS based user interface that is efficient, easy to use, and contributes to high user satisfaction. A-SCEND is A-LIGN’s audit workflow tool which helps clients and auditors manage the full lifecycle of the audit. In this role you will use human-centered design research methodology to probe, assess, and evaluate behaviors of targeted user personas and then translate the knowledge collected from that research into best in class user interfaces. You will be working with an established and passionate product and engineering team, and be working directly with product management on the discovery and design phases of the product process, producing artifacts to be reviewed by and produced for engineering.

PAY CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time, Exempt
ESSENTIAL ACTIVITIES PERFORMED
- Create and document user personas based on target markets and qualitative research
- Lead and document formative studies and qualitative assessments
- Collaborate with product management to elaborate and plan discovery and design topics
- Plan and conduct user interviews or focus groups
- Plan and conduct usability tests
- Identify and organize quantitative feedback from analytics to improve the solution
- Create process, user and task flow diagrams
- Create low and high-fidelity wireframes
- Create click through prototypes that allow others to experience solutions and refine decisions for the benefit of user centered design
- Produce UI components and artifacts to hand off to engineering
- Design and develop user interfaces using secure coding practices for a SaaS-based web app that focus on creating the best possible user experience across multiple devices and browsers
- Collaborate with engineering and QA to ensure that recommended designs make the best use of re-usable components and that the overall design has a reasonable scope and complexity level
- Collaborate with product managers and developers, advocating for user experience
- Identify and troubleshoot UX & UI challenges (e.g. responsiveness)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or relevant experience
EXPERIENCE
- 3-5 years of proven experience in user experience research and design of human interfaces
- 3-5 years of experience using design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD. We currently use Figma.
- Experience documenting process, task and user flows using tools such as Miro, Visio or another process flow tool
- Provide work examples of design thinking work
- Proven success running usability studies
- Knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript is a plus
- Expert knowledge of SaaS methodologies
- Experience collaborating with product management and back-end developers
- Experience testing and deploying code
